Save your seeds for 2025
We are community powered!
If you grabbed 9 packets of seeds at our event, that would have cost you anywhere from $18 – $45 if you had purchased them at a store. To us, however, seeds are priceless.
We believe saving seeds is a radical act and LOVE sharing them with our community at no cost but, we can’t do it without you. Please remember to plant, grow, and then SAVE some seeds to donate back to us so we can get them cleaned, packaged, and back out into the community. Over half of the seeds given out this year were saved by our community members! We had so many amazing volunteers help us clean and pack them over 8+ months so they were ready for you to come pick up.

First Saturday in March
Seed Giveaway, Skill Sharing, Community Building
Every March we have our annual Free The Seeds Celebration – a gardening and food system educational event for all ages. We give away thousands of packets of seeds, offer booth space for local organizations, and host workshops.
Community members save and donate seeds during the year and volunteers get the seeds ready to give away. Save your seeds for the 2025 event!

Year-Round Seed Library
Housed at the Columbia Falls branch, our Seed Library is a partnership between ImagineIf Libraries and Land to Hand MT. Address: 130 6th St W Columbia Falls, MT.
A seed library is a collection of seeds that you can borrow to plant and grow your own food, herbs and flowers at home. After your plants mature and “go to seed,” you save the seeds and return them to the library so they can be shared with others.
The Seed Library is a drop off location for seed donations! To Donate:
- We accept seeds that are non-GMO and open-pollinated.
- Put seeds in a container such as a Ziploc bag, sealed paper bag, or sealed envelope. No glass, please.
- Label with TYPE OF SEED (common name & variety), genus & species if known, YEAR seeds were saved, and LOCATION where seeds were grown.
