Hands in the Dirt Summer Camp

Our Farm to School Program teaches kids about food and where it comes from, encouraging a love of the land and growing food. We are raising the next generation of eaters, farmers, gardeners, chefs and community leaders by teaching them the power of local, nutritious food. Our Hands in the Dirt Summer Camp is a fun way to accomplish this!

Each summer, we offer six weeks of immersive, four-day summer camp programs where kids explore each step of the “seed to plate” process. Kids harvest and prepare snacks with produce fresh from the garden, engage in hands-on science lessons, and make garden-based art. We always offer need-based scholarships – scroll down for more information and the application.

For Junior High School aged kids, we offer the opportunity to be camp counselors for the younger groups. Find all the information on the registration page.

We will never turn a child or family away because of inability to pay. We partner with local organizations to cover summer camp tuition and also offer scholarships and discounts for families who need them. Thank you to the Lesar Foundation and the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund for supporting scholarships this year.

Online Cooking Classes for Kids

In the past we have offered online cooking classes that students could participate in from the comfort of their own kitchen. Farmer Whitney has rave reviews from past participants and parents love that their children (middle school and up) cook dinner for the entire family. Younger kids would participate with their parent or another adult supervising. These classes were fun for all ages and taught valuable nutrition information and kitchen skills.

We are currently taking a break from our online cooking classes but hope to resume them (or in person) at some point in the future.
